Following the publication of the new government guidelines on exercise we have been working closely with UK Athletics & England Athletics on a restricted return to athletics. Public use sessions now operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday at a cost of £3 per person. Each public use session consists of 75min slots.

As expected, We’re putting extra measures in place to help protect you and our employees. When we start to re-open little by little things may be a little different for a while, but our top priority is making sure we’re looking out for you and our employees. Over the past few weeks we have sought the views of our customers, employees and volunteers on our phased re-opening plans.

To help create a safe experience for everyone, we’re enhancing our high standard of cleanliness even further and will be introducing a number of additional measures and changes to our stadium. In addition to deep cleaning before re-opening, our employees and volunteers  will be washing their hands at least every 30 minutes and cleaning equipment and surfaces more often. Our employees will be given access to extra protective equipment, including face masks (but not the type needed by medical teams.) When it comes to our employees and volunteers returning to work, we have encouraged everyone to make the right decision for them, based on their own personal circumstances.

In addition we have also introduced a number of social distancing measures for all our visitors. These include where necessary, limiting the flow of people coming into our stadium to make sure it doesn't get too busy, creating separate entrances and exits so that it’s easier to keep a safe distance from others, and in some areas we’ve introduced directional floor markings and new signs to create a safe flow of movement around the stadium.

For the time being some services and areas of the stadium will remain closed. These include the stadium cafe, social area, community room, grandstand and equipment stores.

We have also implemented a strict new set of rules and restrictions to allow public use of the athletics track once again. These rules and restrictions are as follows:

  • All public use must be booked and paid for in advance. (no walk up public use will be granted access)

  • Social distancing must be adhered to at all times while in the stadium. (floor markings and barriers will help guide you)

  • Jumps Pits, High Jump & Pole Vault beds may be used when supervised by a qualified coach.

  • All indoor social & training facilities remain closed to the public. (excluding toilets)

  • Athletes should bring their own equipment where appropriate. (stadium equipment is not available for use, except for hurdles)

  • Coaching is only permitted on a one to five basis. (Currently up to six people can meet outside from different households, while maintaining social distancing, as per current government guidelines)

On behalf of everybody at The Pingles Stadium keep safe and we look forward to seeing you soon!
